[Phala] Answer Question from Phala, Earn Your Points & Coins

Hello from Phala Network

We are so glad to join the PrivacyQuest by offering a question related to a failed plot in the United Kingdom that enlightened people with anarchism and the freedom of religion. It’s not strictly about privacy protection, but we do think the answer to this question indicates that we are in a situation where people are suffering from data monopoly just as they were suffering religious totalitarian.

The question will be live on December 10, and the answer is easy to find in Phala’s recent updates. Good luck.

What is Phala?

Phala Network is a light, powerful, and secure TEE-based confidential smart contract platform. It aims to provide privacy-preserving cloud computing services for global companies and users. Launching soon, Phala will be a parachain on Polkadot to serve as a solution to the next-generation problems of privacy protection. It’s a member of the Confidential Computing Consortium (CCC) and recipient of two Web3 Foundation Grants.

What does Phala provide?

Phala development started in 2018 when the core team realized the severe need for privacy protection in blockchain. They first built a bridge between Polkadot and Libra (now renamed Diem) featuring secret asset protection, which won them the 1st grant from the Web3 Foundation. They then promoted the concepts and demo of W3A—a developer-friendly, decentralized, and authorization-controllable data analytics tool as a Web3.0 alternative to Google Analytics—winning them the second grant. W3A will be live a few months after the Phala mainnet goes live.

Phala has started its 3rd open testing—the Testnet Vendetta Incentive Program—to encourage all users to provide confidential computing power by joining Phala Network as TEE computing nodes while earning PHA. PHA will later be crucial for staking, on-chain governance, and data permission application in the Phala data rental market.

Roadmap

Phala has launched 3 testnets in 2020:

  • Testnet PoC-1, May
  • Testnet PoC-2: Rorchach, July
  • Testnet PoC-3: Vendetta, November

As Polkadot XCMP is essential to allow cross-chain integration, Phala will participate in the Kusama parachain slots auction in the 1st quarter of 2021. The Phala mainnet will be live as a Kusama parachain and serve all blockchain ecosystems as a powerful data protection solution.
