How to shield & unshield MATIC with Polygon bridge

Hi everyone,

In this tutorial, we’re exploring how to shield and un-shield MATIC with Polygon bridge (this is appliable for Polygon’s ERC20 tokens too).

Shielding

Step 1

Go to the Wallet tab, tap on Shield a coin then search for a token you want to shield (in this tutorial, it’s MATIC)

Step 2

After choosing MATIC from the Search coins page, you will see a shielding address that you will send MATIC to along with shielding fees.

Note: The shielding fee will be deducted from the shielded funds.

Step 3

After sending MATIC to the shielding address, the shielding may take some time for Incognito background jobs to process, you can check the shielding status in the coin history (in this case, it’s MATIC’s history). The MATIC balance will be updated after the shielding is successful.

Un-Shielding

Step 1

From the Wallet tab, (1) tap on the token you want to unshield (it’s MATIC in this tutorial) then (3) tap on the Send button that is shown by (2) tapping on the three-dot icon from the top right corner of the Coin detail page.

Step 2, 3, 4

Input the amount and Polygon address you want to un-shield to, the app will estimate un-shelding fee, paid in PRV. If no validation errors are prompted, tap on Send anonymously button to initiate your un-shielding.

Step 5

The un-shielding may take some time for Incognito background jobs to process, you can check the un-shielding status in the coin history (in this case, it’s MATIC’s history). MATIC should be landed in your Polygon wallet (or your exchange wallet if you un-shielded to an exchange) after the un-shielding is successful.
