Blockchain Privacy Firm HOPR Releases Mixnet Hardware Node for Ethereum

HOPR is a similar privacy project to Incognito with similar goals. They too are building and shipping a (PoR) node for native network validation. The node can also simultaneously stake ETH2.0 plus join IPFS, Filecoin, et al networks. Very similar to the planned features of the shelved Node Pro. The project is partially financed by Binance Labs.

The hardware cost is commiserate with the Incognito Node $440. They do offer a guide for a BYOH installation (similar to an Incognito Node Virtual).

There are differences though.

  • The main mechanism for creating privacy is via an automated TOR-like mixnet.
  • The HOPR network is using the Ethereum blockchain but plans to incorporate more payment gateways with other blockchains.
  • The project is very young and has sparse documentation.
  • Still in testnet; mainnet to follow later this year.
  • Using a token sale to raise funding.

I wish we could have this functionaliy for our new Node Tree as well, because it will attract a lot of ETH users, which would mainly buy the node for staking there ETH but ending up staking PRV as well and help so to grow or network massively.
